Manal Abunar is the IMIA Egypt Chapter Chair
I am Egyptian and moved to Abu Dhabi, UAE in 1988 with my husband. I also worked as a freelance translator for more than 20 years with several advertising agencies usually translating from Arabic to English and vice versa, but occasionally translating from Arabic to French and English. Recently my work has been focused on translation for International Organizations. During my path with a life threatening illness in my family, I've learned a lot. I touched the needs of the LEP families, their problems and their discomforts. Therefore, I've decided to educate myself to be able to help others in a professional way. My technical translation background helped me to have a reasonable start I became Associate Member at the ATA, and navigated from there to TAHIT, HITA, IAPTI and then NBCMI, CCHI. I've passed the NBCMI and CCHI written exams and waiting for the oral exam results soon. I am confident that I can assist IMIA to reach new horizons and expand to Middle-East region. I believe that "when there's a will there's a way".
